Motorola MB7621 vs Motorola MB8600 The MB8600 only supports one device. You may connect the MB8600 to either your PC or a router. You can connect up to four devices directly to the MB8600 if you pay for and receive more than one IP address from your Internet service provider. My Motorola MB8600 cable modem, which I purchased in May 2022, only has one ethernet port, not four. I'm disappointed since having an extra port is really beneficial for troubleshooting with a laptop that is directly connected, reducing the need for a separate router between the MB8600 and the rest of the network.
The Model MB8600's design is future-proof. It should be connected with a router that also supports Ethernet port bonding for exceptionally high speeds, or rates more than 1Gbps. The MB8600 modem works with any WiFi router. Given the MB8600's speed, you should need at least an AC1900 router. You may be able to benefit from a faster wireless connection depending on the other devices in your network.
